Books That Make Me Think Of Spring Cleaning

Happy Top Ten Tuesday over at That Artsy Reader Girl!

This week's topic is a Spring Cleaning freebie, so I decided to go with cleaning-themed books I'm either interested in or have enjoyed. I'm not going to do any spring cleaning anytime soon since this is a busy time of year for me (as a teacher, I'm more likely to attempt big cleaning projects in January or June), but it's sometimes fun to read about it. Also to watch on Netflix re: Kondo and The Home Edit.

Cover of Clean: The New Science of Skin. A bottle of soap filled with dirt.

  1. Laundry Love: Finding Joy in a Common Chore by Patric Richardson
  2. Home Comforts: The Art and Science of Keeping House by Cheryl Mendelson
  3. Chasing Dirt: The American Pursuit of Cleanliness by Suellen Hoy
  4. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo (still sparks joy!)
  5. The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning by Margareta Magnusson
  6. Outer Order, Inner Calm: Declutter and Organize to Make More Room for Happiness by Gretchen Rubin
  7. The Home Edit: A Guide to Organizing and Realizing Your House Goals by Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin
  8. The Second Shift: Working Families and the Revolution at Home by Arlie Hochschild
  9. The Dirt on Clean: An Unsanitized History by Katherine Ashenburg
  10. Clean: The New Science of Skin by James Hamblin (came out in 2020; he can't have imagined how relevant it would be!)

Spring is not a cleaning time for me either. It is time to get out in my yard and work, part of which is cleaning now that you mention it!

I've heard of Laundry Love, and I've definitely learned some good habits from Marie Kondo. Thanks for the suggestions.
