I've been fairly successful with my reading goals so far this year (40 out of 42 read!), but I still have some goals to catch up on or exceed (books by authors of color and women in translation). I've also got my book club books, and I'll throw a few new and/or summery titles into the mix for inspiration. Hoping to read many of these outside, basking in beautiful weather!
Happy Top Ten Tuesday!
Books On My Summer 2024 TBR
- She's Up to No Good by Sara Goodman Confino--This is technically for a book club, although I probably won't be able to attend the meeting. I've heard so many good things about this one, and it looks like a good summer read, so I'm planning to read it anyway.
- Midnight in Siberia: A Train Journey into the Heart of Russia by David Greene (Book club read)--I already have it out of the library, but have to get on this one! It sounds very interesting but nonfiction usually takes me a little longer.
- The Edge of Lost by Kristina McMorris (Book club read)--I'm halfway through this one, but just not very into it. Nothing wrong with it, I'm just not particularly relating to the characters--learning a bit about the Irish/Italian immigrant experience in the early twentieth century U.S.
- Clean: The New Science of Skin by James Hamblin--Currently reading this one--learning a lot about soap and how the skin care industry is just as bogus as we think.
- Jackpot Summer by Elyssa Friedland--This one just came out, and Friedland is a sure bet for a fun, funny, and touching summer read. Plus, my library has it.
- Dreams of Ice and Shadow by Kathryn Troy (eARC)--I got through a good chunk but then stopped reading because I find it difficult to read on my computer instead of at least on the Kindle, and I only have a Word doc for this one. But, it's just as incredible as all her other stuff, and I have to get back to it to write a review before it comes out!
- Kiki Kallira Breaks a Kingdom by Sangu Mandanna--Admittedly, I still need to read Mandanna's first book, which is also on my TBR, but I love the trope of kids writing/drawing themselves into and out of myths and stories.
- Children of Anguish and Anarchy by Tomi Adeyemi--After a long wait, this one is out next week! I liked the first book, but found it a little more typical YA fantasy. The second book was something else, exploring more mature themes and concepts in fascinating ways, and I expect more surprises in the third.
- The Dating Contract by Stacy Agdern--Preordered via a Kindle deal, and now that it's been delivered, I'm just waiting for the right time to devour this one.
- Birding with Benefits by Sarah T. Dubbs--I've really enjoyed second chance romance since Role Playing and I've also gotten a little into birding in recent years, so this new release looks intriguing.
