This week, I finally finished a couple of books I'd been reading for a while, and finally watched something other than The West Wing!
Finished Reading
- A Bend in the Stars by Rachel Barenbaum
- The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson
- "Speech Sounds" by Octavia Butler (short story)-glad she finally made the bestseller list but seriously can't believe she hadn't already/while she was still alive.
- Real Simple magazine-I'm loving this new subscription. it's the oerfect antidote to the world right now, focusing on what we can control.
- Hadassah magazine--reflections on getting ready for Rosh Hashanah and lots of book recs!
Watched
- Love, Guaranteed Netflix movie--This one was cute though unrealistic (suing a dating site). <3 Damon Wayans Jr.
- Seasons 5 and half season 6 of The West Wing
Other Things
- Socially distanced walks with friends are fun, and I'm taking advantage while the weather is nice. I had a great walk with a friend yesterday, and my dogs had a blast! We walked for a whole hour, which is much more than they usually get :-)
- Speaking of walking, I'm also doing a lot of it at home. I've been doing walking at home exercise videos to up my aerobics game, especially seeing a lot of my fav Leslie Sansone
- I found an interesting study from UC Davis posted on Twitter about what students perceived to be most successful about online courses last spring--a lot of it was what I've been doing, but I was surprised they enjoyed online group work so much. I may have to rethink my approach, which was that it would be too difficult online.
- It's the week before Rosh Hashanah, and this year I've been preparing for the month of Elul, with Elul Unbound I've been enjoying the daily reminders to think about the coming year, and making it a better one.
Comments
Walking is an important part of our daily ritual now. We start the day with a walk through town to the library. I always have a couple of books to return.
I do think there are advantages to online courses. I'm glad that educators are looking closely at the strengths of online classes.
I hope you have a lovely week.
A Bend in the Stars is new to me, I’ll have to check it out.
Wishing you a great reading week
