Thankfulness

Happy Top Ten Tuesday over at That Artsy Reader Girl! I've decided to write on a theme of thankfulness for a number of books for different reasons. Happy Thanksgiving to everybody celebrating this week, and have a good week to everybody else!

  1. Tracks by Louise Erdrich
At first, I wanted to make a list of Native American authors, but I don't think I've read any but Louise  Erdrich. I'm grateful to have read her, and to have the chance to read more of her books, and more books   by different Native American authors.

2. The Nest by Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney

This is a surprisingly heartwarming book about a family that learns to be grateful for what they have.

3. Black Widow: A Sad-Funny Journey Through Grief for People Who Usually Avoid Books with Words Like 'Journey' in the Title by Leslie Gray Streeter

I'm grateful for this book and for the author visiting our book club (virtually).

4. My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry by Fredrik Backman

Another one I'm grateful for, and the characters learn to be grateful for one another.

5. The Imperfects by Amy Meyerson

So grateful to have won this in an Instagram contest this year!

6. The Stars and the Blackness Between Them by Junuada Petrus

Grateful to my husband for gifting me this for my birthday!

7. So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo

Grateful to the author for taking the time to write, and to Mahogany Books for sending under that onslaught they were under!

8. Your Perfect Year by Charlotte Lucas

Grateful to the author and translator, and Amazon for offering it for free on Kindle in honor of World Book Day,

9. Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin

For being there at the right time.

10. Middlemarch by George Eliot

For getting me through, and being such a delight.

I am more grateful than ever for books these days, so I loved your post. Erdrich is one of my favorite authors. I have read many of her novels. I have also read Giovanni's Room and plan to read Middlemarch one day.
I have The Nest here. I am glad to hear it is good.

I've been thinking about more Frederik Bachman since I enjoyed Anxious People so much. I will look for My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry.
