Top Ten Bookish Superpowers I Wish I Had

 Writing this on my phone so bear with me. I just read Jana's list over at That Artsy Reader Girl (sorry can't link) and she had so many amazing  ideas. I'll try to think of a few. 

Bookish Superpowers 

  1. Immediately pulling out all my favorite quotes from a book I've read, what character said them, the page number, etc.--Ereaders and quotable flags help with this, but it's not as good as Magic!
  2. Producing movies or shows for any book I want--It would be so great not to have to wait or rely on certain levels of popularity! Also, they would obviously have to not have stupid differences from the book!
  3. Being able to read any book I want when I want--i.e. not having to wait for the publisher or the library! (I would still wait for the author generally, though in certain cases, I'd accept a different author's version!)
  4. Probably falls under 3, but specifically,  be able to access any unknown, forgotten, misplaced, or unpublished manuscripts from authors I'd be interested in 
  5. Be able to read anywhere I want, like anytime I read, I could suddenly be in a tree house or on a mountain or in a cozy reading cave
  6. My books could come alive and tell me about their specific history, like where they've been and who they've been read by
  7. I would want to be able to visit places and/or meet characters from my books
Wow, I came up with a lot more of these than I thought I could! Which one of these or any other bookish superpowers would you like? Great topic!

I struggle to remember quotes, too! It would be so nice if that was an automatic thing.

Oh, yes! It would be so nice if it was always effortless to pull my favorite quotes from books! I find it particularly hard with audiobooks. I don't have a lot of second-hand books, but it would be fascinating to learn the history of the ones I do have! (And if I had that superpower, I might buy more used books.)

Most of my books come from the used bookstore, so it would be fun to hear where they lived before I bought them. I bet some of them would have interesting stories.

The quotes thing would be the most useful for me irl, I have such a hard time remembering them and where to find them! I'd also love being able to transport myself to read anywhere in the world I want!

Cozy/Atmospheric Reads

I love this topic for rejoining Top Ten Tuesday!  I'm trying to lean in as much as possible to the coziness of fall and the upcoming winter season. I've done a lot better with that the last few years. Just because it isn't my favorite doesn't mean I can't enjoy it. Plus, some books I'm reading lately that are apropos for the Halloween atmosphere pervading my neighborhood this month at least.  Cozy/Atmospheric Reads Adenashire, a Cozy Fantasy Book Series by J. Penner--These books are the epitome of cozy fantasy with distinctive characters from a variety of creative fantasy backgrounds, including orcs, fennex, and gargoyles. The Bloodstained Key by Charity Rau--Not so cozy, but stiflingly atmospheric--a Gothic novel set inside a fairytale. The Unfortunate Side Effects of Heartbreak and Magic by Breanne Randall--Really captures the cozy atmosphere of a small town and a trove of magical family secrets. My Reactions to Common Book Buzzwords or Phrases

I'm trying to post but take it easy, so I'm including my reactions to some of the example buzzwords Jana used in the prompt, plus any more I think of. I had some very strong and immediate reactions, probably since these buzzwords are so common, especially in romance and the romantasy that's ultrapopular these days! Happy Top Ten Tuesday! My Reactions to Common Book Buzzwords or Phrases Phrase: "Morally grey characters" My Reaction: NO. Why?: I'm thoroughly sick of this trend, especially because it typically means "morally grey male love interest" which typically actually means "I fell in love with a serial killer BUT HE LOOOOVES ME." No. Don't get me wrong, I can and do enjoy genuinely nuanced characters and I do not expect anyone, much less a fictional character, to be perfect nor do I want them to be, but if I see that phrase, I think Rhysand, or, at best, Christian Grey, and I'm just not into that.
