Books I Wish Had an Epilogue (or More Epilogue)

 I feel like most of the books I read have epilogues, especially these days, but when I really love characters, I could read about them forever! I saw a couple other people wishing for "more" epilogue though, so I'll put that down too. Basically, I want whole follow-up books, but I'll take what I can get!

Top 10 Books I Wish Had an Epilogue (or More Epilogue)



  1. The City in the Middle of the Night by Charlie Jane Anders--I was sad when this ended so abruptly! Luckily, Anders wrote a follow-up short story, and I'm hoping there will be even more to come. 
  2. The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers/Wayfarers series--I enjoyed checking in on some of the characters through the rest of the series, but I'd love a more direct follow-up on the main characters from this book (Rosemary, Sissix, and Jenks especially) after the end of the series--or honestly, follow-ups on any characters from any books in the series!
  3. The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins--I would love to keep following up with Katniss, Peeta, and their children in a post-Games society.
  4. We Are Okay by Nina LaCour-I love the contained nature of the book but I would also love to follow the adventures of Marin and Mabel.
  5. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell-I want to know what happens with Cath and Levi and read more of her fanfiction.
  6. The Matzah Ball by Jean Meltzer-I'd like to follow up with Jacob and Rachel and Rachel's writing career.
  7. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen-I know a lot of fan sequels have been written (and I've read some of them!) but I would have loved to read Austen's take on an older Elizabeth. Also, what happens to Mary, Kitty, and Lydia. 
  8. Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen-Similarly, I could see quite an interesting sequel on Marianne's life as Colonel Brandon's widow...
  9. Rilla of Ingleside by L.M. Montgomery-I know she wrote seven of these but I could keep reading them forever--I always wonder, and what happened next?!
  10. Graceling by Kristin Cashore--I've loved the follow-ups we got on Bitterblue, but I wish there was a follow-up that focused more on Katsa too.

I think Rilla could have had her own series of books! I’ve often wondered what Anne’s grandchildren might have gotten up to or even what interesting things her family may have discovered about their ancestry once DNA testing became available in the 2000s.

Much as I love The Hunger Games, I wouldn't necessarily want more stories with Katniss and Peeta because I think it would naturally have to disturb their well earned peace!

@Lydia--I agree, I would have loved seven Rilla books!

@IloveheartlandX Good point, but certainly we could have another epilogue!

Books with Single-Word Titles

Happy Top Ten Tuesday over at That Artsy Reader Girl! Books with Single-Word Titles These are all my favorite books that I could think of with one-word titles. A lot of fantasy, a few nonfiction (minus subtitles) and Kindred , whether you consider it scifi or historical fiction. Also two portmanteaus using the word "bitter." Books Read in July 2024

 Pitch It by Evie Blum-- Kind of a weirdly suspenseful romcom but I enjoyed the perspective of a woman working in Silicon Valley,  which I don't see a lot. The business jargon was on point. The author is really talented at writing physicality too; be prepared for a lot of spicy scenes.  My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Bro di Ashton, and Jodi Meadows--I'd wanted to read this for a while (Tudor history nerd, hello!), and I just saw and loved the show on Prime and finally got the book from Kindle Unlimited.  Both are so, so good! Very tongue-in-cheek, intrusive narration, and so many riffs on Shakespeare, Tudor history, and more. Plus it's a surprise fantasy world with people who turn into animals instead of Protestants vs. Catholics--totally brilliant. Can't wait to read the rest!
